Many PR professionals run into the same issue over and over again…

“My client has a deal with a pro athlete. They may have one between 1 and 2 hours in their PR contract, but they also want some media coverage. What can we do?”

Unfortunately, what COULD be a great opportunity to garner publicity is dwindled down to an autograph session that may – or may not – get exposure in that one local city. But what if you had a way to take that athlete and get upward of 10 million impressions for your client? Would you consider that a win? We think so.

Having an athlete as a spokesperson is a great way to get your message in front of millions of people. These celebrities in their own right have a direct tie to the news cycle, depending on their status with the team and time of year, and often carry a huge fan base.

Instead of wasting time carting him or her around to one-stop appearances and spending what the few precious minutes you have on a car service ride, you can take the opportunity to customize a quick media blitz to achieve maximum results!

How does this media blitz work? KEF Media will work with you to customize a plan that fits your client, athlete, the time you have and your media goals. We don’t have to be in a studio in a major city either. We can find the perfect spot to execute interviews - such as an office or hotel suite close to your athlete’s home, team facility - basically anywhere!

Still want to get that autograph session in? No problem! With as little as one hour of interview time, we can create a solution even from the site of the autograph session!

We saw great success for one of our clients recently when we had the opportunity to work with longtime Dallas Maverick basketball star Dirk Nowitzki.   In just 45 minutes with him, we conducted 5 interviews that garnered more than 12 million combined radio/TV impressions and another 200+ million unique views online!

In under an hour of this athlete’s time the client got their message out on:

  • A syndicated morning show
  • 3 national radio shows
  • 1 national sports TV show
  • 2 major websites with video
  • A local hometown market
  • A nationwide Audio News Release
  • Their internal website

With such a short amount of time in which to work, our client originally thought they would conduct an autograph signing or do a single local TV or radio interview. But with some creative collaboration, we were able to present a diverse mix of media options to help maximize their budget and secure some great coverage!

The interviews were recorded just like an SMT, but without the extra expense. Our media team found the best outlets that made the most sense for our client to reach maximum exposure in the time allotted. Needless to say, these results were much stronger than any autograph session!

You don’t need to have 8 hours or even 4 hours of time to achieve great results when you have an athlete. If you can provide even 60 to 90 minutes, we can help you execute a wide array of media tactics that can provide the type of extraordinary results that put you on superstar status with your client. And, if you walk out with your favorite athlete’s autograph, that’s just a bonus!
